Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery is a safe and reliable way to enhance breast shape and size. Breast enhancement using breast implants can give a woman more proportional shape and may improve self esteem.

Breast augmentation surgery is an operation designed to improve the shape and volume of the breast. The operation addresses common breast aesthetic issues, such as lack of breast volume, flattened breast shape and drooping nipple position. The operation can be combined with breast lift (mastopexy) procedures to further enhance the breast form.

Breast augmentation surgery has become the most commonly performed operation in plastic surgery, according to the 2008 survey conducted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). It's easy to see why this is true. Breast augmentation surgery is a safe and effective way to enhance one's figure. The procedure has a very high patient satisfaction rate, indicating that most patients would do the procedure again based on their past experiences with breast augmentation surgery. Studies have shown that women who have a breast augmentation procedure experience an enhanced sense of self-esteem and sexuality.

What can Breast Augmentation Surgery achieve?

The goals of breast augmentation surgery are to increase the volume of the breast while preserving the natural contour and shape of the existing breast. The breast is composed of both skin and soft tissue. The appearance and texture of both the skin and soft tissue of the breast are affected by the presence of the breast implant. When properly selected, a breast implant's size and shape can enhance the breast appearance. When imprudently selected, an implant can alter the appearance of the breast in undesirable ways. The key to achieving a long-lasting and natural appearing breast augmentation is finding the correct implant for a particular patient, and then placing the implant into the breast as gently as possible. A properly performed breast augmentation should look natural and beautiful for many years.

What should I expect during the recovery process?

At the conclusion of your breast augmentation procedure, you may be placed in a surgical dressing that may include a support bra or garment. Prior to your discharge, you and your caregiver will be given detailed instructions about your post-surgical care including drains if they have been placed, the normal symptoms you will experience, and any potential signs of complication.

The first 2-5 days following your breast augmentation surgery you may feel stiff and sore in the chest region. Your breasts may feel tight and sensitive to the touch, and your skin may feel warm or itchy. You may experience difficulty raising your arms. You may begin light exercise as soon as you feel ready. Most residual swelling will resolve within a month.

While it will take several days to return to more normal activities after your breast augmentation, it is important to your recovery that you get up and move around. After breast augmentation, it is often possible to return to work within just a few days or a week, depending on the type of activities that are required at your job.

How much does Breast Augmentation Surgery cost?

The cost includes all of the following components of a breast augmentation procedure:

  • Surgeon's fee
  • Anesthesia professional fee
  • Cost of two breast implants
  • Certified Ambulatory Surgery facility fee
  • Post-operative surgical bra
  • Routine follow up visits with our Board-Certified plastic surgeon

Why is Breast Augmentation Surgery less expensive compared to other clinics?

The cost for breast augmentation is one of the lowest in the Seattle and Bellevue region. Our costs are kept low for several reasons.

  1. We operate in a certified ambulatory surgery center. We are able to set affordable facility fees because of the efficient way the surgery center is run.
  2. Because of our long-standing relationship with Allergan (the manufacturer of Botox and Juvederm) we can obtain Allergan implants at a much lower cost. We pass these savings on to our patients.
  3. Our experienced anesthesia providers specialize in safe outpatient cosmetic surgery, and keep their hourly rates low for all of our patients.

Patients from Seattle, Bellevue, Edmonds, Everett, Kirkland, Tacoma, Spokane and Portland visit our clinic in Washington for cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and body.
