This caregiver's priority is the safety of her patients and her team

Meet Savannah R., RN, an Emergency Department nurse at Swedish. Savannah is the recipient of ths year's Nils Johanson Award for Safety. From the entire Providence Swedish community, congratulations Savannah. 

Every year, Providence Swedish recognizes the invaluable work of our caregivers with the Nils Johanson Inspirational Awards. The awards are named for Swedish's founder, Nils Johanson, and are given to caregivers who exemplify our core values of integrity, dignity, excellence, justice, compassion and safety. Caregivers are nominated by their peers and supervisors.

We're proud to introduce you to Savannah R., RN, this years winner of the Nils Johanson Award for Safety. Savannah thrives on the Emergency Department's (ED) pace and teamwork. Nominated for her commitment to keeping patients and staff safe in the sometimes-chaotic ED environment. 

"Savannah is an amazing leader and an exemplary nurse," says Emergency Services Manager Ashland Shepard. "She kept her team safe in a situation that could have not been. We had a patient with a gunshot would come into the ER. Savannah took control of teh scene and kept the patient and her team safe." 

"It's an honor to have her on our team and I rest easy knowing that she is here." 

"I just love emergency medicine. I decided I wanted to be an ER nurse during my sophmore year in high school," says Savannah. "I've never looked back."
