Gauged or Stretched Ear Lobe Repair

July 18, 2013 Joshua M Cooper

Around Seattle we are seeing more and more men and women who have chosen to gauge their ear lobes, and wear large inserts.

I have also been seeing an increasing number of patients who no longer wish to wear large piercings, and they choose to have these large skin defects closed surgically.

I am able to close these large ear lobe piercings in my office using local anesthesia.   The reconstruction of a gauged ear lobe usually takes about 45 minutes.

Pain is minimal, and sutures are removed a week later.
