Carr has led major supply chain improvements at Providence Swedish and helped develop and test mass-casualty supply chain processes as the region prepared for large-scale events such as FIFA World Cup.
Providence Swedish is proud to celebrate Tyler Carr, senior director of Supply Chain Management for Providence's North Division, who was named one of Puget Sound Business Journal's 2026 Healthcare Heroes. He was one of 16 honorees recognized at an awards luncheon on July 30.
Now in its fourth year, the PSBJ Healthcare Heroes program recognizes front-line employees and healthcare professionals whose work improves patient care, advances health equity and strengthens operations across hospitals, clinics, public health system and the broader healthcare industry.
For Carr, that work happens behind the scenes but touches nearly every patient and caregiver. He oversees supply chain managment for 18 hospitals across Western Washington and Alaska, helping ensure teams have the medical supplies and equipment they need, when they need them.
His teams manage everything from everyday supplies to specialized surgical equipment and human tissue. They also forecast demand, monitor potential shortages and recalls, and support readiness planning so caregivers can remain focused on providing safe, high-quality care.
Carr's leadership became especially visible during the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before joining Swedish in April 2020, he helped deploy an Army field hospital to Lumen Field as the region prepared for a possible surge in cases.
Soon after, he joined Providence Swedish to manage supply chain operations at the Cherry Hill and Ballard campuses. He also took on the additional responsiblity of standing up and managing a 35,000-square-foot COVID-19 distribution center, helping move personal protective equipment and other critical supplies to caregivers across Providence Swedish and beyond at a time when supplies were scare nationwide.
Carr has continued to lead major improvements across the North Division, including enhancing supply forecasting and replenishment processes, reducing stockouts and waste, and strengthening emergency response planning. He also helped develop and test mass-casualty supply chain processes, including emergency trauma carts and stock activation procedures, as the region prepared for large-scale events such as FIFA World Cup.
His work has also helped Providence North Division hospitals and ambulatory clinics manage risk during international supply shortages while maintaining care volumes and preparing for increased demand.
Carr has a master's degree in supply chain mangement from the University of Washington. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and three children. And on a lighter note, he is also proud to have been voted "Best Christmas Lights in Bonney Lake."
