Providence Swedish Neuroscience Institute celebrates 400th focused ultrasound treatment

October 27, 2026 Swedish Neuroscience Team

Providence Swedish is the only Washington State hospital offering the procedure. We congratulate Dr. Tony Wang and the whole focused ultrasound team.

Providence Swedish Neuroscience Institute recently completed its 400th MR-guided focused ultrasound procedure, an achievement reflecting the skills and dedication of our caregivers.

For Wendy, the patient who received the milestone procedure, the impact was immediate. After years of living with essential tremor, she experienced a noticeable difference following treatment and celebrated the moment alongside her care team.

Essential tremor can make everyday activities more difficult. MR-guided focused ultrasound offers noninvasive treatment by using magnetic resonance imaging to guide focused ultrasound waves to precise areas deep in the brain.

Providence Swedish is the only program in Washington state treating essential tremor with this technology, expanding access to specialty care for patients who may benefit from the procedure.

Congratulations to Dr. Tony Wang and the entire clinical and support team on this achievement.
