Are you a good influence?

Our parents were right. The people we surround ourselves with have a direct impact on our personal lifestyle choices. So, are your friends and family a positive influence on your life? Are you a good influence on those around you? Do you have a training partner that you see on a regular basis?

Most of us are more likely to workout if we make a commitment to meet someone and workout together, it makes us accountable and means letting someone down if we flake out.

Your training partner does not have to be your best friend, they just need to be someone that supports you and motivates you to be a better person. You also don’t need to spend additional money, you can find someone currently in your life.

For example:

  • A co-worker: you see this person on a regular basis and when you see them they remind you to lead a healthier life. Perhaps your lunch breaks can become a time to fit in a quick workout or you can challenge each other to eat healthier, take the stairs more or walk together. Or, you can go to the gym together before or after work to avoid traffic.
  • A neighbor: someone that you bump into on a regular basis. You don’t have to get in a car to get in a good workout. You can walk, job, go for a bike ride, do a stair workout.
  • A friend that you never get to see anymore: instead of grabbing happy hour or eating out, meet up for a workout so you can catch up while you burn some calories.
  •  A family member: start a new tradition. Go for a hike together, go for a walk after spiritual services or make a commitment to find healthier meals together.

You have probably discovered that people open up more when they are working out, something happens when our endorphins are released. So, the next time you want to have a deep discussion, try it while you are breaking a sweat
