Every year, Providence Swedish recognizes the invaluable work of our caregivers with the Nils Johanson Inspirational Awards. The awards are named for Swedish's founder, Nils Johanson, and are given to caregivers who exemplify our core values of integrity, dignity, excellence, justice, compassion and safety. Caregivers are nominated by their peers and supervisors.
We're proud to introduce you to antepartum unit nurse Courtney Webster, RN. Courtney is known as a caregiver who is dedicated to making every one of her patients feel supported and seen, especially when thier pregnancy has not gone as planned. It's not unheard of for her to come in on her day off to be with one of her patients having a particularly difficult time.
"I can tell you that Courtney has a pretty incredible gift for caring for a very diverse population of patients," says Antepartum Unit Manager Jennifer Riha. "She meets [patients] where they're at, and she's really good at making them feel listened to. She's able to bridge gaps."
"As a nurse, I work to give patients some sort of control, and a big part of that is getting to know them, talking to them and advocating for them," Courtney says.
