Seattle Sounders FC Head Coach Brian Schmetzer and Ashwani Rajput, M.D., executive medical director of Providence Swedish Cancer Institute, recently joined FOX13’s Good Day Seattle to talk with co-host Erin Mayovsky about why cancer screenings matter.

Coach Schmetzer shared that his father, who was very active, put off getting checked and died of skin cancer just three weeks after seeing a doctor. He says the outcome might have been different had he gone sooner. His message to viewers is simple: cancer can be sneaky, and whether you’re young or old, it’s important to get checked.

Dr. Rajput spoke about the role prevention and screening play in protecting health. He emphasized that taking care of your health and your body is important, and that it’s best to get help sooner rather than later.
