The Seattle Storm and Providence Swedish teamed up for the 10th annual “Storm Out Cancer” night on Sept. 5 at Climate Pledge Arena, rallying fans to help fight and prevent cancer while supporting those in treatment.
The game against the New York Liberty was dedicated to recognizing those facing cancer as well as loved ones we’ve lost to the disease.
At a special halftime celebration, the Seattle Storm Foundation presented a $20,000 check and Premera Blue Cross presented a $5,000 donation to support Providence Swedish Cancer Institute’s Patient Assistance Fund — a fund that helps patients facing financial hardship during cancer treatment by covering essential needs such as transportation, groceries, and other day-to-day expenses that can become overwhelming while undergoing care.
The annual Storm Out Cancer event is dedicated to honoring survivors, remembering loved ones lost to the disease, and encouraging proactive health action, including regular screenings and education on treatment options.
