We've all been advised to take a deep breath during an anxious moment, but when we are in the grips of our fight or flight response it's easier said than done. In this short video, Courtney Lavadia, Ph.D., an integrated behavioral health expert at Swedish, educates us about diaphragmatic breathing, or belly breathing, a method that stimulates the area of our nervous system responsible for feelings of safety and calm. Follow along and give it a try for yourself.
