A Sounders star stopped by Swedish with a hatful of holiday joy and cheer!

Seattle Sounders FC star Cody Baker stopped by the Swedish Orthopedic Institue recently to spread some joy and help get patients back on their feet!

Decked out in a Santa hat and carrying a sack full of beanies, Seattle Sounders FC player Cody Baker brought holiday cheer to the First Hill campus on December 17 with surprise visits to Pediatric Therapy Services, the Pediatric Unit, and the Orthopedic Institute.

Cody spent time meeting patients and caregivers, handing out exclusive Sounders + Providence Swedish–branded beanies and sharing smiles along the way.

Go Sounders! A look back on our partnership

The 2025 season marked the third successful year of collaboration between the Seattle Sounders FC, Providence and Providence Swedish, supporting our commitment to health and community involvement. Highlights include:

  • Community engagement: Programs like the “Community Assist of the Match” showcased local impact. Throughout the season, we celebrated local heroes promoting justice, equality, and mental and physical well-being. See the latest Community Assist of the Match recipients.  
  • Youth mental health: Continued to partner with Renton School District to address youth mental health, implemented Work2BeWell curriculum, hosted wellness programs in schools, established mental health clubs, and shared in the community the importance of youth mental health (see Providence Swedish and Sounders' visit to El Centro De La Raza)  
  • Wellness initiatives: Provided free sports physicals and community resources to hundreds of students and families, and led over 600 participants in the Rave Green Run’s “Stretch Together with Providence Swedish.”
  • Caregiver engagement: Offered caregivers tickets to 17 home matches, community event participation, volunteer opportunities showcasing caregivers’ dedication to community health, and meet and greet events with Sounders first team players.
  • Sports medicine excellence: Provided comprehensive medical support for Sounders players, including pre-season physicals, vaccinations and ongoing care.
  • Brand integration: Strengthened visibility through jersey branding, stadium LEDs, social media, and community events across live and televised platforms. (See special docuseries on Sounders player Jesus Ferreira highlighting his experience at Providence Swedish.)
